The eighth St Laurence Church Community Christmas Tree Festival will be held between
Sunday 2nd December and Sunday 9th December 2012. The Festival Switch-on
ceremony will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday 2nd December, with special guest (to be confirmed) and the Festival
will end with the Christmas Tree Festival Songs of Praise at 4:00 p.m
on Sunday 9th December 2012.
Following the increasingly popular festivals of previous
years, we again hope to fill the Church with many decorated Christmas
trees, displayed by organisations, businesses, groups or individuals from
across the local area. We are keen to welcome as many local people to
see the displays as possible. We need the support of local people to help
us achieve the amazing spectacle set over the last 7 years!
If you, either as an individual, group, organisation or business, would
like to display a Christmas tree for the Festival the following information
is given to assist you:
There is no charge for displaying a tree at the Festival.
You may use a real or artificial tree - preferably between 4' and 6' high
(we can accommodate smaller or bigger trees!), decorated in any way you choose. (In
the past, we have suggested that it might be a good opportunity to advertise
your existence in the local community by using decorations appropriate
to your organisation).
An electricity supply will be available for each tree, but we ask that
flashing or musical lights are not used (or set on static/silent), as
these may be distressing to some visitors.
The trees may be staged on Thursday 29th November (afternoon and early evening), Friday 30th November (day time and early evening),
all day Saturday 1st December (or early afternoon on Sunday 2nd December,
by prior arrangement only). The trees can be removed after the service
on Sunday 9th December or during the day on Monday 10th December 2012.
Your space must be booked in advance - please see below!
There are no prizes for displaying a tree - it is impossible to do this
as all the displays are brilliant!
Again, we will not be charging for admission to the Festival (except for
the Lights Switch-on event), but will be asking visitors for donations
towards the ongoing Roof Appeal for both the Church and Church Hall. In
case you are wondering, we have been able to do some of the necessary
repairs, thanks to various fundraising events and donations, but still
have a good way to go!
